Back from holiday I was reluctant to venture into the gym, well that's not the whole truth.
I had two midweek games last week and travelled to London at the weekend to see Prince at the O2 Arena (fantastic show by the way!). So I had a little time but off I went last night, dreading the scales and exercise machines but I got a pleasant surprise. My weight was within a couple of hundred grammes of what it was before I went away which was suprising as I had a restaurant meal on 10/14 nights when I was away and had a few drinks each night. The good news is that apart from the treadmill I coped extremely well with all the usual exercises and did as much as I wanted to do.
With regard to the treadmill, the major problem I had was that my headphones kept falling out and this distracted me from concentrating on the running. I still completed an easy 3.5mins at 10km/h before getting fed up with the headphones. I burnt off 1295 calories, which is pretty close to what I managed during my U16 game last Thursday. Max heart rate hit 168 and averaged around 140.
According to the theoretical method of calculating max heart rate, my new max (since my birthday) should be 176. I have however hit 186 in the past so that's what I work to on my heart monitor. I have to figure out how to fiddle the exercise machines so they stop telling me I've hit a high heart rate!!
