Euro 2008 - 13 & 14

For the first time in the competition I managed not to see any of the games today and the same will probably happen again tomorrow.

I've gathered from the press reports that both were entertaining and that Holland looked menacing as they tore through France. In the other half of the table the Italian side were lucky not to lose to a hard working Rumanian team. With only one point from their opening two games both France and Italy are looking likely to be going home at the end of the group stage, especially if, against all the odds, Rumania manage to beat the rampant (and already qualified) Holland side.

Today I went training early (more on THAT later) before heading to Presentation Night for the local Sunday league. I didn't win a prize but the Fat Lad picked up Referee of the Year and wasn't booed as he went to pick up his trophy. It was a good turn out at the third venue in three years. Most entertaining team of the night has to be the winners of the First Division but I suspect that their sponsors putting on a free bar for them had something to do with it! I bet there's a few players who are glad there's no football to be played today by their team.

So next stop for the league is the AGM when the Constitution will be agreed for next year and the league officers get elected/re-elected. As RA delegate my place is already secured until the end of next season and I'll be working hard on behalf of the RA to ensure our views are heard.
