Training XV

With our numbers depleted by match appointments, fitness test preparations, ill health and entertaining customers it left only Zico and I for training.

We chose the simplest exercise possible which was the same as the one we did on June 14 and 27, the dreaded laps of the field of play. First we ran at 3/4 pace one side, then two, then three then a full circuit before a rest and a count down from full circuit, three sides, two side and one side. Each time the circuit was filled out by walking, so if we ran two sides, we walked the other two. If we ran one side we ran the other three.

I explained it much better in Training IV and Training X, but I'm just too damn tired and I've just dried off. As Zico and I finished off the last lap and began our cooldown, the rain went from heavy to torrential and we got soaked to the skin. I maxed my heart rate at 95% and averaged 77% burning off 876 calories. On the previous attempt at this exercise I hit max 123% (must have been a blip) and averaged 77%. The session was 15 minutes longer (I forgot to stop my monitor) and I burned 995 calories.

So in comparison, my average heart rate was exactly the same as it was 2 weeks ago and I burned calories at a rate of 876 per hour but on the last session I burned them at a rate of 796 per hour so it was a very good work out! CE's still away on Monday so we have to devise another session for ourselves. Titfer has even more customers to entertain and Fat Lad might still have his cold.

As Zico picked tonight's exercise I will pick Monday's and I fancy either the 12 minute run, 10 minute rest, 12 minute run or the 4.5 minute run, 2 minute rest (was 3 minutes last time), repeated 3 times before doing 2x2.25 minutes running with a one minute rest between (was 2 minutes last time) just as we did in Training V. It will be tough but we'll cope.
