CE takes yet another night off leaving his poor trainees to their own devices again, so having had two hard sessions on Monday and Wednesday we decided to have a nice easy session (if only!). Titfer was till struggling with his achilles/ankle issue so gave tonight a miss.
The warm up lap was the fastest ever at 3m37s for me while the Fat Lad clocked 3m25s which is around the pace he needs to pass his fitness test. He paid for it later though as he didn't manage to complete the first half of the main event. We decided to go for an endurance run of 12m run, 10m rest/stretches and another 12m run. After 1 1/2 laps Fat Lad pulled up short and said his hamstring had gone tight again. It was no surprise as we have had a lot of fast paced stuff this week and he was trying to lift his pace again when it happened.
He walked through to our start point and I kept on running. I eventually finished around 100m further round our circuit than I have managed before. When we did the second set, I managed another 10m on top. So I reckon that in the 2 weeks since our little mock fitness test I have added around 100m to my distance over the 12 minutes which is fair going and basically boils down to confidence in being able to lift my pace a notch from time to time.
The Fat Lad ran all the way through and finished about 150-200m in front of me which was good going as he was trying hard not to push the bad leg too far. Zico, being Zico lost a stud on the first run, did the second one in her stocking feet and still managed around 2200m. As we fnished our little warm down jog I got a quick twang of cramp in one leg but it passed as quick as it came.
Next week we have training booked for Monday, game on Tuesday, recovery session on Wednesday and another game on Friday (when I'm helping CE). Tonight I averaged 75% of max heart rate, peaked at 95% and burned 1003 calories. That takes my week's total to 2950+
