Knowing I had an appointment with a FAMOA evening at the County FA last night I had considered training during the day but a combination of demolishing and building a wardrobe for our bedroom (on instructions of Mrs Rogue), preparing for next week's presentation to the RA and playing Guitar Hero III for 3 hours, I never made it out of the house.
So despite the appalling weather I thought I could squeeze a session in tonight but co-trainers were a little thin on the ground. Titfer hasn't trained for quite some time, mainly because he has had a few pre-season games. Fat Lad had childcare responsibilities. CE was on a game, so it was Zico and me.
When she turned up she was wearing flip flops and showed me her heel which had a burst blister the size of a 50p coin on the back of it. She wanted to train and despite my best advice, she wouldn't listen to my protests which were in he best interests. So we trained together, splashing through the puddles and mud.
We did a repeat of Training XIII (and Training III) which involved a run from goal line to goal line and back to the edge of the penalty area at the end where we started from. When we tried this in Training XIII we did this with a 10 minute rest between the two sets of 8 runs. Tonight Zico and I had a 4 minute rest and it showed in our second set that it wasn't enough.
In the first set my runs ranged between 39-47s and in the second set it was 43-46s. Not too bad but not as good as the set in Training XIII but that's probably because we were losing our footing in the mud. I also had a little twinge in my left hamstring on the 7th run of the first set but I kept on working. In the end I burned 882 calories with 94% max hr and an average of 78%.
