Game 6

The end of my first week of competitive action saw me turning out in my last game of 6 in 7 days. Previously this would have reduced me to a virtual standstill on the field and a shuffling figure off field. Instead I have a few aches and pains but nothing that a good recovery session won't clear up and that is set for Thursday with the Fat Lad.

With the light fading badly in the last 10 minutes last night I suggested to the two captains that tonight we go for two halves of 40 minutes each and they agreed. The first half was a virtual non-event except for the game's one and only caution for a silly handball by a defender who broke up a promising attack.

In the first 5 minutes of the second half the away team scored two goals, the second of which was an own goal after a flailing leg from a defender sent the ball past his own goalkeeper. A goal scored by the home team with just over 15 minutes left gave them hope but two more goals for the away team in the last 5 minutes of the game, gave the scoreline an unbalanced look at 1-4.

As regards workrate I burned only 1025 calories, max hr in the first half 85%, average 73% and 81% max, average 68% in the second half. I also got hit with the ball at least 4 times during the game because I was up with play. I have noticed that I am a lot closer to play and keep getting hit with the ball (on Saturday I even blocked a shot on goal). I am going to have to reconsider my positioning to ensure this stops.

So I have a rest until Thursday now and I'll catch up on a few bits and pieces of paperwork before training on Thursday.
