Training XXXIII

A wide range of excuses for not training tonight. Fat Lad had to take his dog to the vet, Titfer had a stocktake to complete at work and Chuckle's school burned down over the weekend! Me? I just had the lingering after effects of yesterday's hangover and a relatively stressful day trying to get fellow managers to understand how Microsoft Excel works.

As mine was the weakest excuse I decided I would train ... on the track ... on my own. It was cold and windy and the track was deserted apart from a group of young runners training for hurdles ... not the most encouraging environment. Nevertheless I did my warm up and then did a lap of the track in 1m48s. I took a 1m rest and then repeated the same one lap of the track putting in times of 2m6s and 2m7s each with a 50s rest in between. My 4th lap was poor at 2m19s so I took a 3 minute rest and then did two laps in 4m22s.

I took a 1m40s rest and then put in another 2 laps, this time in 4m35s followed by a 1m25s rest. This third set of two laps was by far the hardest and it took 4m54s to get around. I took a full 2m rest and then pumped out the last two lap set in 4m32s. I'm not sure how to view those results but looking back it seems I was ran a 4m32s two laps on my first set a couple of weeks ago, so to say it was my 4th set and I had 4 single laps before that, then I could be happy ... I suppose.

968 calories burned, max hr 95% and an average of 81%.

P.S. Taking my dog to the vets ... is that the sign of a man committed to improving/maintaining his fitness? No I thought not and he's off on holiday for a week on Friday so there will be no training out of him for at least another 2 weeks from today (me meeting Wednesday and him not back until Hallowe'en)
