Did I make a positive contribution today? Yes I did
Did I get a positive report from the assessor? Yes in general it was good
Did I make a schoolboy error? Yes I did and wished the ground would open up
Let's get the rubbish out of the way first ... free kick, moving ball, waves flag to attract referee's attention but play goes on and on and on and ... eventually he spots me and asks what I wanted. He was not impressed and neither was the assessor when play was called back. I listened and learned.
Apart from that it was a good game with plenty for Craig to do supported by me and Penfold. 5 cautions, the odd one went to the home side, and 5 goals with the winner going to the away side. The home team had clawed back from 2-0 down and were heartbroken when the own goal from their defender cost them the game. The major comedy/tragedy moment of the game came in the second half when my right knee locked three times while running up the touchline. I ended up running like Spotty Dog from The Woodentops (ask your grandparents kids!) until it released.
