A mad dash

Last week, a work meeting was postponed from Thursday until Wednesday September 16.

No real problem except that it was in Scotland and clashed with the date of the 5-4 promotion meeting. I had to be at both, because despite notifying the County FA of the clash, missing the promotion meeting meant I would be dropped from the programme.

I headed back but got advance warning (via the satnav) of traffic congestion just outside Oldham. I made a detour through what felt like most of Lancashire, cutting through Rochdale and arrived 45 minutes after the meeting started. I tried to sneak in without making much of an entrance but Ken, who was leading the meeting, pointed me out (thanks boss!). It was interesting to hear that another candidate had been telling all and sundry that I would not pass the fitness test (just what you need to hear from a colleague).

That gave me some extra drive towards training this week :-)
