Football – Live – the day as it unfolded
1702: In League One, it's Leeds going up automatically with Norwich, while Millwall, Charlton, Swindon and Huddersfield make up the play-off places. Gillingham go down after a dramatic last day with Hartlepool, Tranmere and Exeter surviving.
1700: Time for a recap, then. In League Two, Grimsby have been relegated with Barnet and Cheltenham surviving on the last day. At the top, Morecambe, Rotherham, Aldershot and Dagenham filled the four play-off places (in that order).
1700: Late goal for Derek Niven gives Chesterfield a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth.
1658: LEEDS ARE PROMOTED! They've come from behind to beat Bristol Rovers with 10 men and are back in the second tier of English football. Millwall, Charlton and Swindon are in the play-offs along with Huddersfield.
1657: GRIMSBY ARE RELEGATED! They've lost at Burton and go down, with Barnet surviving in League Two.
1656: GILLINGHAM ARE RELEGATED! They've lost 3-0 at Wycombe and Hartlepool have drawn at Brentford.
1655: Jermaine Beckford departs, blowing kisses to the Leeds fans. Is this his farewell? It certainly looks like it to me.
1654: EXETER ARE SAFE! They've beaten Huddersfield.
1654: Millwall have won - but doesn't look to be enough with Leeds also in front.
1654: Adebayo Akinfenwa has levelled late on for Northampton against Bury, while Adam Lallana has made it Southampton 3 Southend 1.
1653: DAGENHAM ARE IN THE PLAY-OFFS! They've won at Darlington.
1652: TRANMERE ARE SAFE! They've won 3-0 at Stockport.
1652: Full-time scores drifting in now.
1651: Kevin Lisbie nets from the spot to give Colchester a 1-0 lead.
1650: Luke Ashworth sent off late on for Leyton Orient against Colchester for deliberate handball. Penalty to follow...
1649: Late goal for Hereford against Rotherham, Marc Pugh making it 3-0 with the clock ticking down.
1647: Barnet have rubberstamped their safety - with Grimsby losing 3-0 they were under little threat - with Albert Jarrett giving them a 1-0 lead against Rochdale.
1646: Looks like Southend will end a miserable season with another defeat - they're 2-1 down at Southampton with Rickie Lambert netting his second of the afternoon from the spot.
1645: Walsall on course to end their season with a win - Emmanuele Smith has given them a 2-1 lead over MK Dons with four minutes remaining in that one.
1643: Game on at the New Den, with Billy Paynter netting yet another goal for Swindon. That makes it 3-2 to Millwall.
1642: Another goal at Saltergate - and it's a leveller for Chesterfield, with Jack Lester making it 1-1 against Bournemouth.
1640: Terrible news for Gillingham and Hartlepool fans - Exeter lead Huddersfield 2-1 with Ryan Harley on target! That puts Gillingham in the relegation zone in League One but if Hartlepool concede against Brentford, it's Pools who go down!
1638: Port Vale's play-off hopes look to be over in League Two, but Marc Richards has pulled them level against Shrewsbury. 1-1 in that one now.
1637: Leeds strike the woodwork, with Leigh Bromby heading against the post. So close.
1636: Think Tranmere can start the survival party - they're 3-0 up at Stockport now thanks to a goal from Joss Labadie and that leaves them a point above Gillingham so even if Exeter score they should be OK.
1635: Gillingham in freefall here. They're 3-0 down at Wycombe with a goal from Kevin Betsy. They're still OK, though, as long as Exeter don't beat Huddersfield.
1634: Morecambe strengthen their hold on a play-off place in League Two with Garry Hunter putting them in front against Aldershot. That actually carries them up into fourth place it's that tight.
1629: Millwall double their lead against fellow League One promotion hopefuls Swindon, with Steve Morison making it 3-1. They need Bristol Rovers to nick a leveller against Leeds, though, or it's the play-offs for them.
1628: Bradford in front at Crewe in League Two, with Ryan Kendall the man on target. Nothing for either team to play for.
1627: Couple of sendings off in League Two now, with James Poole of Bury and Lincoln's Davide Somma getting their marching orders almost simultaneously.
1626: Gillingham now 2-0 down at Wycombe but still a point clear of survival as Exeter are only drawing with Huddersfield.
1625: Complete turnaround at Elland Road, and it's Jermaine Beckford who has given 10-man Leeds the lead! From 1-0 down to 2-1 up - and Leeds back in the driving seat in the League One promotion race!
1624: Highs and lows for Leeds fans within minutes - yes, they've levelled against Bristol Rovers, but Millwall are now in that second spot as they lead Swindon by virtue of an own goal from Gordon Greer. What a 30 minutes we have ahead of us now!
1623: Looks like game over for Grimsby - they're 3-0 down at Burton and heading down to the Blue Square Premier.
1621: Huge goal at Elland Road - and it's substitute Jonny Howson the man on target for Leeds to make it 1-1 against Bristol Rovers. That's the Whites back in second spot on goal difference.
1620: Rickie Lambert ensures Southend's lead doesn't last long as he nets the leveller for Southampton.
1619: Brentford dominant against League One strugglers Hartlepool, but they're yet to find a way through.
1617: They're down already but Southend lead at Southampton in League One, with Franck Moussa netting the opener.
1615: First substitute of the afternoon at Elland Road, with Jonny Howson coming on for Leeds.
1611: More great news for Tranmere fans as Ian Taylor-Moore nets their second at Stockport. That's 2-0 to Rovers and they're on course for another season in League One.
1608: Bristol Rovers in front at Elland Road! It's Daryl Duffy on target! That's Leeds knocked out of the automatic promotion places as things stand, with Charlton now in charge of that particula race.
1606: Big blunder from Darryl Flahavan in the Oldham goal presents Charlton with a second goal as Miguel Angel Llera nets for the visitors at Boundary Park. Still 'as you were', though, with Leeds going up as things stand.
1605: First goal of the second halves comes at Walsall, where the home side level against MK Dons through Matt Richards.
1551: That's half-time at Elland Road - so time for a recap of where we stand. Leeds are going up from League One automatically as things stand while Exeter are going down. In League Two, it's Dagenham and Morecambe in the last two play-off spots with Grimsby heading for the Blue Square Premier.
1549: Great goal from Matt Phillips gives Wycombe the lead against Gillingham. Gills not out of the relegation fight in League One, but as things stand they're still safe.
1548: Brighton in front against Yeovil in League One through Elliott Bennett. Doesn't affect things at either end of the table.
1547: Bury also in need of favours, but they lead at Northampton through a goal from Ryan Lowe. As things stand, they're out of the League Two play-off places on goal difference alone.
1546: Half-time whistles just starting to blow now. Still five minutes of added time to come, though, at Elland Road.
1544: Chesterfield in need of favours to get into the play-offs, but they're not even doing their job at the moment with Bournemouth 1-0 up there through a Drew Talbot own goal.
1542: Beckford strikes the Bristol Rovers post this time - but again the whistle has gone for a foul before he gets through. Another good decision from the referee despite the catcalls.
1539: Grimsby staring at the drop to the Blue Square Premier now. They're 2-0 down at Burton with Shaun Harrad netting. The hosts are hardly rock-solid at the back but it's a long way back from there.
1538: Goal at Edgeley Park - and it's a massive, massive goal for Tranmere, with Ian Goodison on target. Exeter back in the bottom four...but if they take the lead against Huddersfield, Hartlepool slip into the drop-zone!
1537: Just managed to catch a replay and for me the referee has got it absolutely spot on - Gradel stamped on Jones.
1536: Daniel Jones, the Bristol Rovers player who was involved in the original incident, has been shown a yellow card. Leeds fans absolutely furious here.
1535: Gradel has gone here. He's lost his head completely. There's now two stewards on the pitch trying to escort him away. But he still wants to take to the referee. This is crazy.
1534: Ball in the net at Elland Road, but the flag is up and the Leeds celebrations are short-lived. Handbags follow - and Max Gradel is sent off! Gradel has lost it here. He's having to be hauled away from the referee by three of his team-mates.
1532: Dagenham looking good for a League Two play-off berth - they lead 1-0 at Darlington, with Jon Nurse the man on target.
1529: MK Dons on top at Walsall, with Daniel Powell putting them in front. Nothing but pride at stake in that one.
1527: Accrington back level against League Two strugglers Cheltenham, with Chris Turner on target.
1525: Charlton level with Leeds on points in the League One promotion race but behind them on goal difference now as Nicky Bailey fires them in front at Oldham.
1524: Exeter back on level terms with Huddersfield as Matthew Taylor scores. That puts the Grecians above the waterline, with Tranmere now back in the League One drop-zone.
1522: Hereford now beating Rotherham 2-0 in League Two as Darren Jones nets. The Millers slip to fifth as things stand.
1520: Pretty quiet start to what is a crunch afternoon in both divisions. You can bet things will liven up before too long, though. What price a Jimmy Glass moment by the end of the afternoon?
1518: Exeter appeal for a penalty against Huddersfield in League One, but the referee waves away their appeals. As things stand, of course, the Grecians are going down.
1517: Max Gradel gets himself some space on the right for Leeds but takes the wrong option and his cross-shot bounces out for a Bristol Rovers throw. Should have slid in Neil Kilkenny there.
1516: Leeds now back in pole position in the League One promotion race as Steve Morrison nets from the spot to level for Millwall against Swindon. Grimsby heading for the Blue Square Premier as things stand, meanwhile, as Greg Pearson fires Burton in front against the Mariners in League Two.
1514: Josh Low fires Cheltenham in front against Accrington. Should they lose they could be dragged into the drop-zone but that'd need Barnet and Grimsby to both win.
1513: Shrewsbury in front at Port Vale, a blow to Vale's play-off hopes. Kris Bright the man opening the scoring.
1512: Good ball from Bradley Johnson hoisted into the Bristol Rovers area but none of the Leeds strikers are on the front foot and the danger passes.
1510: Great chance for John O'Flynn to ease Barnet's relegation fears at the bottom of League Two but it goes abegging as Frank Fielding in the Rochdale goal saves well.
1509: Norwich's title party won't be affected, but it's now 2-0 to Carlisle at Carrow Road with Jason Price claiming the second. Two in two for the big striker.
1508: Leeds on top against Bristol Rovers so far, but they're yet to find the necessary quality in the final third to force a way through. Jermaine Beckford captaining the side in what could be his last appearance for them.
1507: Hereford in front against Rotherham in in League Two. Mathieu Manset with the goal. Millers already assured of a play-off place, but they can determine the venue of their semi-final first leg of course.
1505: So just for a recap as things stand, Swindon are heading for the Championship as they lead and Leeds are only drawing.
1503: Norwich are already promoted - but they trail 1-0 to Carlisle in League One, with Gary Madine scoring early on.
1502: Big goals early on in the games at Millwall and Exeter - Swindon lead at the New Den through Daniel Ward while Huddersfield are in front at St James' through Gary Roberts.
1500: Whistles blowing around the country to get us under way. Leeds our main match in focus given they have it in their hands but you can expect plenty of updates from all the major games.
1458: I'll keep you across all the major lines, of course, but don't forget you can follow the tables in running on the right-hand side of this desktop pop-up.
1449: In League Two, Barnet and Grimsby are fighting for survival. A win for Barnet against Rochdale keeps them up otherwise they must match Grimsby's result at Burton. Elsewhere, Morecambe, Dagenham & Redbridge, Bury, Port Vale, Northampton and Chesterfield are fighting for two play-off places.
1447: So here's what's still up for grabs in League One - five teams are fighting it out for promotion alongside Norwich, with Leeds in pole position as they face Bristol Rovers at home. Millwall, Swindon, Charlton and Huddersfield are waiting in the wings. At the other end, one of Tranmere, Gillingham, Hartlepool and Exeter will go down, with Tranmere the current incumbents.
1445: Welcome to our coverage of the final day of the regular League One and League Two seasons. Plenty still to be decided this afternoon, but just a quick recap on what happened elsewhere earlier - Blackpool take a 2-1 lead over Nottingham Forest into the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final, while Falkirk have been relegated from the Scottish Premier League.
