I happened to be checking my fixtures for the remainder of the season and noticed that Saturday's game had been moved to a noon kick off. My wife works Saturday mornings and I can't leave the house much before 12:30 so this kick off was going to cause a problem.
I phoned Chris Spurr, the Fixtures and Appointments Secretary, and his callback confirmed the change of time from 2:30pm. I asked for a change of fixture and he gave me Sherburn White Rose Reserves home game. So that seemed to have resolved the situation until Richard Benton, from Leeds City, phoned me to confirm the noon kick off!
I explained that I had been switched and suggested he call Chris tomorrow to sort things out.
On the subject of confusion, the game between Old Pack Horse and Birkenshaw has been re-arranged to May 22. It was given to Steve Lynch, my best mate in refereeing but he has passed it back to me. I then got a call from Ian Harvey, Fixture Secretary for the Heavy Woollen Gate Sunday Alliance Football League to confirm I still had the game but that one of the teams had asked for Assistant Referees to be appointed as it was so important (runners-up spot in the Premier Division will depend on the result of this game). He suggested Steve Lynch and Steve Land. I've spoken to both and they are now booked for the game. God knows who is paying for all these referees!!!
