Training and Development

I travelled out to Sherburn on Thursday to observe and help Mr Steve, the County RDO as he delivered a whistlestop tour of the Laws of Association Football to a small but enthusiastic group consisting of junior football club officials and players.

The format was similar to the 2 day Basic Course for New referees I observed back at the end of July but this was compressed into 3 hours instead of the whole weekend. We still had time to nip outside on to a field and have a play with some flags, free kick scenarios, etc. All those involved seem to enjoy their participation.

I picked up a few learning points to help me prepare for my my Instructors Course in October. One of which was breathe as the pace of the evening was lightning quick. Steve really rattled through the points he needed to get over but his approach was successful as two of the seven in attendance seemed keen to get on to a future Basic Course. I eventually got home just after 10.30 and scoffed a huge salad mixed with chicken before creeping off to bed.
