The sensible thing would been to have a recovery session after the game last night which left me aching from hip to heel, but with the opening games getting ever closer, CE decided that we could either do a sprint session or a high intensity session.
Bearing in mind that my hamstrings felt like someone had been hitting them with a hammer I opted for the high intensity session with Fat Lad, while CE and Zico did the sprints. I arrived late for training as I had to work through to complete a project because I started a two week holiday tonight (yay!), so they had already completed their warm up lap and were about to embark on their shuttles. I did a lap of the football field and then joined in the shuttles which seemed to be going on a very long time.
Fat Lad and I then started the high intensity session from Training V, running for 4m30s, taking a 3m recovery period before repeating the same run and recovery period twice more. This was followed by a run of 2m15s and a 2m recovery and again repeated twice through. I felt pretty ok despite last night's exertions and tried to stay with Fat Lad on many of the runs but ended up eating his dust too often ...
Nevertheless we both worked very hard (as usual) and I finished up burning 915 calories, with a max hr of 95% and an average of 76%. An easy end to the week??? So on Sunday I will be on CE's line again, this time for a charity game at Zico's club. It's a current team versus a club legends team. She is featuring for the legends side and will be the only female player in the side. She is then turning out for the ladies team (as Captain!) in the afternoon game which I will be watching with Fat Lad, Mrs Fat Lad, my little ginger son and of course, Specks. I hope the sun shines ...
