Not having trained properly for a few weeks and Fat Lad being on holiday for a couple, we weren't sure what to expect when we hit the track tonight.
I can't pretend it was an unqualified success as we both came away feeling a little deflated. Captain Korma, Titfer, Zico, Chuckle Elder all turned out as well so it was a biggish group that set off with the 2500m target. Personally I wanted to get to 2150m and the others all had the 2500m target.
I managed to hang on to the coat tails of the leading group for almost 800m and Titfer overtook me at around 1000m. The 800m took me just about 4 minutes which as a decent pace for me but it was also too much and the rest of the time I was averaging 2m25s for each lap. I finished on 2080m which was still an improvement on last time of around 30m. All I need to do is to continue improving at the same rate (but if I train it should be better) and I'll be ready for this time next year!
As for Fat Lad his chest tightened up and he stopped after 1300m. Titfer managed a respectable 2350m with Captain Korma hitting around 2800m which was fantastic for him. Once everyone had recovered the Capt., Fat Lad and Titfer tried out the 2x50m sprints which need to be completed in 7.5s or less. On the first one, they all breezed through and on the second, Titfer was the last man across in just about 7.5s. So it looks ok on the sprints for all three.
Fat Lad has a FA Youth Cup Tie on Wednesday so I'll probably go see him instead of training and then it's THE test for him and the others on Friday. Calories 331 in 20minutes of running and collapsing, max hr 98% average 83%.
