Training XXX

Bearing in mind I have no games this weekend because of my instructing/learning commitments I thought that a 2nd training session and Wednesday's tough run out would see me earn my weekend off.

I arrived a little early and found the track populated by small people ... children. It seems the local gymnastic club had decided to send all of the pupils on a three lap warm up run. Sensible, yes, frustrating for me, yes, any sign of Fat Lad, no. He was too busy arguing with some IT support person based in Mumbai. Once the track had cleared I set off on a little warm up lap and having completed that I did another one and the Fat Lad turned up at this point so I put in another before we did our shuttles.

Fat Lad had two demanding games in prospect so in view of the late start, the work I had already completed and his desire not to tire himself out, we compromised on 4 x 2 laps of the track. On the first I set off far too quickly and couldn't maintain the pace as I completed the first 300m in 1 minute and finished in 4m32s.

The second set were exactly the same which was a major disappointment as I had managed two sets at 4m10s before slowing down in Training XXVIII. This time I worked in reverse as the third set were completed in around 4m25s but with a superhuman effort I managed the last two laps in 4m12s.

I burned off a nice 794 calories with a max hr at 98% and an average of 79%. On, on, on to the Basic Referees Course in Halifax!!!
