Training XXXI

When I was growing up my mum had a favourite saying about something that was unlikely to happen and that was "Never in a month of Sundays".

Well after a month of training, I'm a lot fitter than I was but still not as ft as I want to be. My recovery time is down, work rate up, endurance up and determination up. Last night when we turned up at training with Titfer and Fat Lad they each wanted a recovery session having had two games at the weekend whereas I wanted a good work out. In the end we compromised, partially because Mrs Baldy was going swimming as soon as I got back from the track.

Tonight's training was easy in it's simplicity and tough on the legs in execution ... run 100m at 3/4 pace and walk 300m, run 200m at 3/4 pace and walk 200m, run 300m at best even pace and walk 100m and then run 400m at best even pace. After a 5 minute rest we repeated the exercise in reverse order starting at 400m and working our way down to 100m.

In normal circumstances we may have attempted to go back up to 400m again but with Mrs Baldy waiting we left things there. Calories burned 828, max hr 99% of max and average 77%. I might not make it to training on Wednesday so I might have to train on my own on Thursday :-(
