Training 3.3

The rain was too heavy this morning so I when I got up early I decided to work on my presentation for the Promotion Seminar for referees going from Level 7 to Level 6 this season. It was a good decision as I managed to finish it off and can put it to bed until Thursday when I have to deliver it.

The rain slackened off and after a short trip to a local shopping centre to claim a free gift promoting the release of Disney/Pixar's Toy Story 3, I decided I really should train. After all, because of the Promotion Seminar on Thursday and a Sunday League Committee Meeting on Tuesday, I would only have the opportunity to train on Wednesday.

So I took myself off to the local park where the weather couldn't decide whether to rain or shine. As I started off, I was being soaked by drizzle which was desperately trying to grow into a full blown downpour, but this quickly gave way to hazy sunshine which made it very warm.

I originally intended to run for 12 minutes, rest for 5 minutes and run for another 12 minutes but after 2 minutes I had developed severe back pain. I kept going to 2m30s but couldn't keep going. I allowed myself a 1m rest before starting to run again. I repeated this cycle until I had completed 12m30s running with 4 x 1m rest between each of the 2m30s runs. I decided to have a longer rest, this time for 5 minutes.

I started my second set by running for 3 minutes and taking a 1m30s rest. I repeated this 3 times giving me a total of 12 minutes with 3 x 1m30s of rest between each of the runs. I was exhausted by this time and had another rest this time of 4 minutes before doing my warm down lap and stretches. Training does seem so much harder when running on your own and I did struggle but I didn't give up. Calories burned 927 with average heart rate of 147.
