The season starts tomorrow

July 1st is when the new seasons officially starts and I start to get itchy feet wanting to be involved in a game..

Two things arrived this morning which cheered me up. Firstly I got a second invite to do a tournament I have done for the last two years. It involves all day refereeing open age, short duration games for two days and is great for building up match fitness. It takes place in two weeks so I'll have to dust off the wellingtons, if this poor weather continues. I was asked a few months ago but thought it clashed with a friend's stag weekend but I mixed up my dates (first time I've ever done that). It's followed by another tournament three weeks after that which is for youth players from across Europe and North America. It my fifth year doing that one and comes just before I take two weeks off in the sun!

The other item of correspondence was notification from the FA in London that I have been nominated by the County FA for consideration for appointment to one ofn the FA's competitions, the FA Cup, the FA Vase or the FA Trophy. I've supplied my closed dates which happen to coincide with the Preliminary Rounds of the FA Cup, however I have booked my holidays at the same time for the last 5 years and happen to have tickets for one of Prince's "21 nights in London" tour. But there's always a chance of getting a replay ...
