I phoned WRCFA today to check on my nomination for an Assessor's course as I knew the proposed date was fast approaching. I was assured that a letter wil be out by the end of the week confirming my invitation on the course. After tonight's game, when the referee asked for some feedback, I mentioned how he seemed to attract a lot of verbal dissent in the second half which he probably could have avoided.
I noted how he had remained at the scene of a number of midfield free kicks and as a result became the focal point for "discussion" with players from both sides. I suggested that he might want to consider "giving and going", i.e. give the free kick and then go ... move away quickly to his position in readiness for the kick to be taken. He seemed to take the suggestion onboard so I hope it helps. Maybe if I get appointed to assess him later in the season, I'll see if he used the point!
