I've always been a bit of a rebel and with advancing years I've changed from rebel to subversive, working for a revolution but from the inside. Well I think my transition to crusty oldie took a step forward tonight. I welcome the responsibility but I'm not ready to enter the stage where I talk about the games I used to do, I'd rather be talking about my games at the weekend!
I already represent my local Referee's Association on the League management committee of the local Sunday league and tonight I was elected as the RA representative to the District FA. The District FA arranges the local District Cups - one for Saturday teams, one for Sunday teams and one for the U16 teams who are based in the local District. They also arrange referee training and appoint all the referees to the aforementioned cups. That is as much as I know about the District FA but I intend to find out a lot more. I've a few more years before I consider hanging up the whistle but my involvement in the administration of football is increasing gradually!
