All in aid of charidee ...

Had a little run out with CE and Johnno yesterday morning at a charity game between a local Unibond current 1st team and a team made up of "legends" who were former players.

It was good fun even though I did take it too seriously at times. Zico was playing for the legends and put in a good show, including crossing the ball for one of the many legends goals. The front line for the legends still looked pretty sharp and scored some great goals.

It was a recovery session for CE after his game on Saturday which went very, very well. Once he felt he'd done enough he kept taking a rest by taking on the role of player, having a seat in the centre circle and in the stand, as well as trying to tackle players, take shots on goal and all the usual malarkey.

Johnno joined in by swapping shirts with an outfield player and trying to score a goal, but I flagged for his offside offence! I let a man dressed in a chicken suit and Johnno junior take over on my line while I took a seat in the stand next to Chuckle the Younger. I thought CY was a little harsh when he said that both were better than me, but then again he had seen my escapade at Guiseley on Thursday!

The game finished with a massive score for the legends against not many for the current team. I rushed off to pick up Mrs Rogue and my small ginger son and missed the photo for the local paper, so CY had to step into my place. I can't wait for it to appear with my name under the photo!!!

In the afternoon, the family Rogue enjoyed some beers, burgers and bouncy castle action while Zico's team demolished the local opposition from the ladies team from the town's other Unibond team. Zico worked very hard and looked shattered when she eventually was substituted. That was after she had scored a fantastic goal from a free kick which the opposition goal keeper just couldn't keep out.

With Fat Lad and Mrs Fat Lad in close attendance, we all had a good day out and I was glad that I didn't have to get up for work today (drinking alcohol is bad for you children). I was supposed to be training but I decided to have a little dabble on Guitar Hero III which my wife bought me for my birthday (this Friday if anyone wants to send me a card). I consequently "lost" the next 2 hours while I plucked my way through various guitar classics.

I then found I was impinging on the time I had set aside to prepare my presentation to the local RA concerning last month's new referee training course. I still managed to get 2 hours in and it looks like Jimmy2bob and/or Deefor will be able to help me deliver it on to the big screen at our usual venue. It's been a long time since I made a presentation to an audience of more than 5, so next Monday will be fun!
