Training XXVII

After a three week break and Fat Lad's fitness test looming large on the horizon, it was time to return to training!

CE hasn't been around much, Zico's season has started and she's also been training with the men's team at her club and Titfer hasn't been in touch but is getting ready for promotion (fingers crossed).

Tonight Fat Lad and I were joined by two new trainees, who are both RA colleagues and are having a go at the fitness test next Friday. Perry Mason should have been on a game tonight but Fat Lad carried out a lunch time field of play inspection and found two things wrong with the field which made it unplayable. Firstly large puddles populated many areas of the playing surface and a hole in the playing surface had been repaired by the local council by using rubble and bricks! Our other new playmate Captain Korma has been on a serious diet over the last year and has been training by himself. Tonight he joined the elite (us!).

Having been part of 6 games in 7 days my legs have been enjoying the rest over the last couple of days. Tonight the 40 minutes high intensity running ended that rest. I ran around 5300m, with Fat Lad doing about 6200m, Captain Korma did even more, but he lapped me twice so I lost track of how far he went. Perry Mason stopped running after 30 minutes and did some sprint training instead, but I'm sure he managed at least 6000m.

Over the session I maxed at 95% of max hr and averaged 83%, which is a hard session, evidenced by my burning 1256 calories! Fat Lad and I are training with CE tomorrow evening and on Monday tonight's gang are having a track session in readiness for next Friday's test. On Monday I'm aiming for around 2150m which is an improvement of another 100m on last time's effort. Fat Lad should easily crash the 2500m mark. Looking at Perry and the Captain tonight, I think that both should have no problem making the distance and have only the sprints between them and passing.
