Sunday saw me attend my first day of my Registered Referee's Instructors Course at North Riding County FA.
I met some really good guys, not least of all the inimitable Alan Wilkie, retired Premiership referee who is now Regional Manager for the North East. He was on top form, as he always is when I have heard him speaking to a group. He opened the course then went off to perform another of his duties at Manchester City vs Liverpool.
We were left in the capable hands of Messrs Steve and Bill who proceeded to fill our heads with ideas on presentation, theory on instructing and many other items in between. My head was spinning by the end of the day. This coincided with each of the 11 delegates being given a topic on which to present next week. Passing on the course sees us let loose on a Basic Course for New Referees where we instruct to "live" students. Complete both tasks successfully and we are FA Registered Instructors and allowed to instruct new referees.
