Game 47

I haven't enjoyed a game as much for a such a long time. It didn't matter that my hamstring was tweaking as I did my warm-up nor that I fully expected not to be able to finish the game, this was my game and the players were fantastic, with just one exception.

I arrived early and ready to play, already changed. The game kicked off and within 15 minutes I had awarded a kick from the penalty mark to the away team and cautioned the defender who committed the offence leading to the award. He promptly became a thorn in my side and if I'm totally honest, he should have received a second caution at some point and been dismissed. I decided however to try to work my man management skills to the limits and while this had the desired effect on the other 21 players, this person didn't respond.

A goal was scored and the game remained finely balanced. A shirt pull at the wrong time saw the home team awarded a kick from the penalty mark, but this was saved. Half time arrived and we were still at 1-0. The home team equalised after 62 minutes but then conceded a second goal soon afterwards. In between times I cautioned a couple of players, one from each side, and spoke firmly to another. A late third goal for the away team settled the game down and we ambled through to full time.

The run out was gentle with a burn of less than 1200 calories, average hr 71%, max 85%. I know that I have little pace above a quick jog and I used this to good effect today. I certainly don't have enough to last 90 minutes on a game between two teams of the best U17 players from two districts in the County. So I'm going to have to let down the County FA (not a good move) for tomorrow and possibly for Saturday depending on how this strain reacts to light exercise and ice packs.
