Having worked hard last time out doing road running and having a weekend off I decided that Fat Lad and I could fit in some more running around the streets of WF5.
We started off with a light jog before trying to up the pace between lamp post 3 and 4 before dropping back to a jog between lamp posts 4 and 5, then back up again between lamp post 5 and 6 and so on ...
Neither of us had realised there was a hill on the road we were running up and that we'd be running to a strong breeze which kept gusting and I struggled. We got to the half way mark and took a short breather before heading back. We dispensed with the up and down and dug in for the run back. In total the run took us 23.5 minutes and I burned 363 calories, average hr 88% and max 96%. I only have this much detail because I stopped the heart rate monitor by accident.
After 5 minutes we set off on the same path again and this time tried to maintain the same pace. Again I was struggling but only had a short breather to stretch out my hamstrings at the half way stage. We headed back in and completed the run in just over 22 minutes, so slightly faster than first time around. I left the monitor running for a few minutes before stopping it. I found I had burned 437 calories, average hr was 90% and the max was 100% (very naughty and probably a reflection of my training while I had a head cold).
So not a bad work-out and I felt much better after we had finished. No training on Wednesday as I have a District Fa meeting to attend and on Friday Fat Lad is playing (yes playing) in a vets game so is unavailable. I might sneak out for a little run on a field on Thursday, if I can get home from work early enough. Then the fun begins with 3 games in 4 days starting on Saturday ... shame the season has to end :-(
