It was my last training session tonight and I spent it with the School of Excellence guys at the County HQ.
They were doing a HI session and I was just limbering up for the fitness test tomorrow. Everyone's confidence in me is high but I still have nagging doubts. I know the only way to pass is to give it my all, hold nothing back and run until I drop.
Last night I was at the same venue delivering instruction to a Callback evening for the two most recent courses for new referees. I was charged with the responsibility of talking about positioning at restarts. I opened well enough, set the groups going on their first (of two exercises) and this overran so I cut the second exercise and hammered on through to a conclusion. It seemed well received and I was pleased to avoid panicking when I needed to cut a large part out.
Tuesday had seen an abortive last track practice as the local athletics club had taken it over. As a result I did some angry running at the local park. And now I'm on final countdown with just over 20 hours until the whistle goes. Wish me luck ...
